About

Nao Iyama is a Japanese product and furniture designer based in London and Tokyo. He graduated from the University of the Arts London with a Bachelor's degree in Product and Furniture Design, and has since expanded his professional practice internationally, gaining experience as a designer.

His practice focuses on creating objects that offer small moments of aware­ness in everyday life. People rarely consider how the objects they use every day, such as a favourite cup, a chair, or a light, affect their bodies, their lives, or the environment.

As a designer, his ongoing challenge is to question this unconscious relationship and introduce subtle awareness of the product's material, form, and story through design.


居山那央。2001年生まれ。ロンドン芸術大学、Product and Furniture Design学科を卒業後、ロンドンとメキシコシティで現地のデザイナーの元で学びながら個人の制作、コラボレーションなどを通して経験を積む。現在は東京を拠点にロンドン、メキシコシティ、ミラノ等で作品を展示。

プロダクトが使用者に与える気づきにくい影響とその関係性を、形、素材、ストーリーを通してより深める制作に着目。環境、文化、歴史と深く結びついているデザインの見えない相互関係をより広め、気づきを与えることに挑戦している。
